Realplayer now locked in a cloud account subscription.

Whatever happened to Realplayer? I was really looking forward to using it along with my Sandisk Media Drive to play various video formats, but no, you cant "just" use Realplayer anymore. Its been locked into a cloud service that you have to sign up for, and you have to upload videos to their server before you can play them, even if you have them on your local device. You also have to pay a subscription fee after 2GB, just to watch your own videos! What a waste of resources.
I recommend VLC player as a proper replacement for this travesty, as it can play almost any format, is free, and is open-source. :)
